Peace of heart – The quest of every man

The title of the couplets ‘Sukoon-e-dil’ (peace of heart and mind), is something which relates to the life of every human being. Consciously or subconsciously, the objective and motivation behind the activites of every human being is to secure peace of heart and tranquility of mind. The sad reality is that very few attain this objective in the true sense.
The truly fortunate are those who have a full share of peace of heart and mind in this life and in the Hereafter. In the poetry Hazrat Moulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sb رحمة الله عليه explains that if a person is searching for peace of heart and mind, but he is looking in the wrong places he will search his whole life but he will never find it.
Peace of heart and mind is not like petroleum, or the precious stones and minerals of the earth which can be obtained by drilling or mining the earth. Rather, it is a much more precious commodity which Allah SWT causes to descend directly into the hearts of those committed Believers who have given their hearts to Him.
The definition of the Arabic words ‘Sakinah’ is, a divine light which descends into the heart of a Believer through which he acquires complete inner peace. The Quran describes the superior mode of existence, through which a person enjoys the indescribable bliss in this world. What Allah SWT has in store for them in the Hereafter is beyond human imagination.
The mission of the Believer is to strive for ‘Sukoon-e-dil’, and if we do this consciously our efforts will become focused and we will be the recipients of that special light entering our hearts.
